I am new to this "natural thing" I had my last relaxer March 19th. My hair is very thin already. I am going to grow my perm out. I have been contemplating this for a while but I think I am finally ready to do it! Any suggestions?
Transitioning to natural can be a very scary and frustrating time. You hair is going through changes and because of the different textures, lots of hair loss can occur. Here are some tips for transitioners:
1.) Match those textures. When your hair is curly at the root and straight at the end, the ends have a tendency to snap off. You can fight this by either a.) straightening your roots with heat, or b.) using perm rods to make your ends curly.

2.) Moisturize your roots. Natural hair has a tendency to be dry. It will be necessary for you to use extra moisturization methods for your roots.

3.) Only comb roots when wet. Ends can be combed wet or dry. Natural hair will experience excessive breakage if you attempt to comb it while dry, and it will snap off your perm too.

4.) Grow it out with a protective style. You may not be up for the challenge of transitioning hands-on. In this case, you can opt for the hands-off route by getting a sew-in or a set of braids or kinky twists. Make sure you consider the fact that the hair under the weave still needs moisture, washing, and conditioning.
